Born in the Parisian region in 1974, Fabien Dornic starts to play the trombone together with Georges Conti, then enters in the class of Pierre Ambach at the Conservatory of Versailles, where he wins a Gold Medal. From 1996 onwards he studies at the Conservatory of Saint-Maur at the side of Stefan Legee, who makes him discover the “Sacqueboute”. Having won the Prize for Perfection, he enters the class of the “Sacqueboute” led by Daniel Lassalle at the C.N.S.M.D of Lyon three years later.
In 2003 he receives his Diploma of Superior Studies with the mark “Very Good”.
During these years in Lyon he gets to know Frédéeric Potier, Professor of the Bass-Trombone, who persuades him to continue his studies. Upon this, in 2005, he is admitted in his class at the C.N.S.M.D of Lyon, which he finishes two years later with a new prize.
For several years now he has regularly given performances with numerous prestigious baroque ensembles , such as the “Sacqueboutiers” conducted by Jean-Pierre CANIHAC and Daniel Lassalle, “L’Ecurie et la Chambre du Roy » by Jean-Claude Mlgoire, the « Concerto Vocale » by René Jacobs, « Le Concert d’Astrée » by Emmanuelle Haïm, « Le Concert des Nations » by Jordi Savall, « La Chambre Philharmonique » with the conductor Emmanuel Krivine, « Europa Galante » , « Akadémia », « Ventosum ».
