Born in 1983 in the North of France, Jean-Philippe Navrez reveals his particular interest for music as early as in his childhood. In fact, it is his father, an amateur-musician and Jazz enthusiast, who transfers to him the love for this art. At the age of fifteen he starts playing the trombone with Vincent Terret in the small town “ Fourmies“. This teacher very soon discovers his student’s ambition and urges him two years later to enter in the class of Christian Bogaert at the National Conservatory of the Region Lille. There, he very soon receives his first Gold Medal, his Perfection as well as a First Prize of Chamber Music.

After being prizewinner at the National Competition of Auloyes-Aymeries and winner of the National Competition of Troyes, he enters in 2004 in the class of Michel Becquet at the C.N.S.M.D (the National Superior Conservatory of Music and Dance) of Lyon. In the course of his studies he is led to perform for one year in 2006 as solo-trombonist at the National Orchestra of Montpellier, as well as to perform in varios prestigious ensembles.

He continues his musical career in numerous concerts, solo-performances and International Competitions.
Besides, Jean-Philippe has recently brought home the Third Prize at the prestigious International Competition of PORCIA, in Italy and taken the place of the solo-trombonist at the National Orchestra of Lille.
